Summer school students graduate from the only school in Europe with a Bloomberg Business Lab
1 August 2019
27 international students from countries such as Ukraine, Egypt and Mexico have graduated from CATS College London’s Bloomberg Business Advantage course this summer.
The two-week summer programme provides students who are interested in business an opportunity to learn how to use a Bloomberg Terminal and experience cultural activities in the financial heart of Europe – London.
The students learn how to use a Bloomberg Terminal to experience the real world of business and finance. Through the terminals, students can access the same information as leading decision-makers in business, finance and government.
Nastya, a CATS London student from Ukraine said:
“Before I came on this summer course I knew nothing about business. I’m so happy that I got a chance to use the Bloomberg Terminal, it has been such a fantastic opportunity. In the future, I want to manage the family business and even now I feel a lot more confident.”
On the two-week course, students also have the opportunity to complete Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), a ten-hour e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets. Some large UK employers are now making it mandatory for those joining at graduate level to have completed Bloomberg Market Concepts so the certification gives aspiring students a head start on their studies.
Oscar from Mexico, who studied Bloomberg Market Concepts said:
“I’m 17 and soon I will go to university. I will be one step ahead of my classmates because I know how the terminal works and that is a real benefit for me.”
Students also experience trips and activities every day after class. This year the programme included a tour of the award-winning designed Bloomberg headquarters in the city of London, an introduction to private equity by the firm Bridgepoint, visits to the British Museum and Canary Wharf, known as a hub for finance, a ride on the London Eye and day trips to Cambridge, Canterbury and Brighton.
Oscar went on to say:
“Last week, we visited the Bloomberg Headquarters – it was an awesome experience, it would be so cool to work there.”
