New University Foundation Programme for Financial Trading

In January 2019, CATS colleges were the first school in Europe to officially open a Bloomberg Business Lab. In March 2019, the first of two students had successfully completing Bloomberg Market Concepts, (a ten-hour e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets.) By February 2020, over 100 students from countries worldwide had graduated from the course. 

In light of these successes, CATS colleges have moved to launch a new University Foundation Programme (UFP) for Financial Trading (FT) starting in September 2021. The Programme is designed for students who want to learn more about the dynamic nature of business, the economic environment, financial trading and markets. The Financial Trading UFP can be taken with two additional subjects of your choice to form a full programme schedule.

Commenting on the new course James Slocombe, Principal of CATS London College stated, “we are delighted to be able to offer this new programme to our students, which offers them a unique learning experience, helping to equip them with real-life skills and experience to boost their competitiveness when applying to university, and a must have if you are considering a future in the financial sector.”  

The programme is designed to give students must have theoretical knowledge, including an appreciation of the various factors that affect business decision and strategy as well helping to developing commercial awareness, business acumen and entrepreneurial skills. The programme also provides an opportunity for the student to develop a wide range of essential business skills, such as communication and presentation skills, analysis, interpretation, application and evaluation of business data, as well as the unique opportunity to become a proficient user of the Bloomberg terminal, its database and various functions to make informed financial decision. 

UFP FT will help to set the student apart when applying to study finance, economics, or global trading undergraduate degrees at high-ranking UK universities, and potentially lead into to a successful career in Investment Banking, including roles such as stock broking, Financial Analyst, Hedge Fund Management or Portfolio Management.
