Summer Programs

High School Preparation Program

Boston USA | 4 weeks | August 7th - September 1st 2017 | $7,500*

An intensive 4 week preparation program for students to practice their English and acclimatize to our campus. This intensive 4 week preparation program allows students to improve their English, enjoy our new, all-inclusive campus and explore the city of Boston.


CATS students below the required TOEFL score for their grade of entry may be required to participate on this program.

English language | Reading | Writing | Listening | Speaking | American English pronunciation and intonation | Evening activities and weekend excursions

 

Settling in
This is a great opportunity for students to gain extra language practice and get to know the city of Boston. Students become familiar with school life in America, learn English, and visit interesting places near Boston.

Practice English
This program allows students to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing, by using real materials such as news articles, supermarket advertisements, and flyers. Students also learn basic communication and study skills to help prepare for further study. 

Programme Outcomes:

  2. Practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  3. Learn basic communication skills and study skills.
  4. Visit interesting places in and around Boston.

Ivy Leadership Program

Boston USA | 1 to 4 weeks | July 9th - August 6th 2017* | Program run by our sister group Stafford House International

Price: $1,875**
Entry requirements: minimum English standard: equivalent to IELTS 4.0
Average class size: 12-15
Ages: 14-17

Explore top university options while studying in and exploring Boston – America’s most academic city. Experience a true American high school and attend daily classes in ESL development, SAT and ACT testing preparation, and bi-weekly workshops on preparing for American college admissions.

SAT-ACT preparation | College Counseling | ESL courses | Full activities program | Visit Ivy League universities

*This course runs between the dates specified. It is possible to book 1,2,3 or 4 weeks during this period, providing the end date
is no later than August 6th 2017.

Develop English language skills
Improve upon your English both in and out of the classroom. Students will receive daily ESL instruction but also improve their spoken English through various extra-curricular and social activities.

SAT-ACT preparation
Emphasis is placed on standardized exam scores as part of the college application and we will help you prepare, learn about the test, how to study for it and of course, how to succeed.

Be a well-rounded student
Participate in activities outsid e of the classroom allowing you to grow socially and expand your horizons. US colleges and universities seek wellrounded students involved beyond the classroom.

Visit highly selective universities
Visit prestigious Ivy League universities such as Harvard University, Brown University, Yale University, MIT and more. Learn from and speak with university students to find out what it is really like to study for a degree in the US.

US university application process
Through college counseling sessions with our dedicated counselor, you will learn about the thousands of opportunities available in the US. Workshops will help you with the various steps of the process and you will receive assistance with essay writing, test taking skills, application forms and more.

1. Understand qualities that top US universities search for in candidates and prepare to plan out your academic career to become a well-rounded student.

2. Gain an understanding of the SAT-ACT examination - the various sections and vital study and test taking tips.

3. Have experience of writing a personal essay fit for an application to a top US university.

4. Experience a true American high school and learn about the US education system.

5. Visit top US universities and gain insight into the types of institutions to which you may want to apply.

STEM Program

Our program will engage your natural curiosity about the world and your interest in modern technology and applications. You will explore ideas, experiment with materials, and build your own devices while on field trips and on campus. You will meet local artisans, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs. The city of Boston and its environs will serve as an extension of our classroom. We hope that this program will inspire you to apply your knowledge of STEM fields wherever you are.

Science | Technology | Engineering | Mathematics

STEM in the real world
You will extend your experience of hands-on Science and see how your Mathematics skills can be applied to real Engineering and Technology problems. You will learn about many STEM related topics such as the basics of electronic circuits and planaria regeneration, data analytics, solar and renewable energy.

Build teamwork skills
Through team challenges and competitions you will focus on developing and improving your teamwork skills.

Become a well-rounded student
