CATS history

Since our foundation in 1952, we have grown into one of the most innovative and successful independent education providers in UK and USA.

Our philosophy is simple: we combine exceptionally high-quality teaching with a deep understanding of our students and their personal needs. We do this in a welcoming and enriching environment, a home-from-home where students are free to develop their potential both academically and personally.

Our students are taught by outstanding teachers and supported by a talented welfare and support team who are experienced at nurturing and guiding international pupils so that every student fulfils their potential within the British or American educational system.

CATS locations

CATS offer high school programmes at four exceptional campuses, located in Boston, Massachusetts in the USA, and in Cambridge, Canterbury and London in the UK.

Our students benefit from living and learning in four of the most prestigious university cities in the World.

CATS vision

To provide world-class international education, as the global leaders in modern boarding, university entrance and academic English.

We attract students from across the world – in this diverse and exciting international community our students become global individuals and regularly achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Our supportive yet challenging learning environment creates well-rounded individuals, allowing them to thrive both within the classroom and beyond.

CATS Academy mission

CATS Academy Boston offers an American coeducational college preparatory boarding and day program (9 through 12) for a predominantly international cohort of students, who are linguistically, culturally, and academically diverse.
Focusing on the needs of each individual, CATS helps students realize their full potential and attain admission to the college choice that is right for them. CATS provides a supportive learning community where all students receive the necessary guidance to achieve their goals, aided by a personalized learning plan.
CATS help students to develop by nurturing strong English language skills along with creative and critical thinking skills which they have often not experienced in their previous educational systems. The school’s strong academic, social development, and extracurricular programs, delivered by highly talented and committed staff, provide for the needs of the whole student.
This holistic approach enables the international student body not only to gain entry to, but also to succeed in, American colleges and universities, and to become well-informed, ethical global citizens and leaders.

With a CATS education, students look forward to:

  • Exceptional modern school campuses with boarding programmes designed to meet the needs of international students
  • One-to-one  support from Personal Tutors and specialist College Counsellors who guide students through each step of their university application journey
  • Expert teachers who use innovative methods to help both native and non-native English speakers to excel in their academic studies
  • Developing life-long friendships with students from all over the world.

Supporting United World Schools

We are the major corporate partner of United World Schools, a charitable organisation that creates educational opportunities for children living in the world’s poorest regions.

UWS works to provide thousands of the poorest children in the world with the opportunity of going to school. The great work this charity does allows children in remote and post-conflict areas to have access to basic education and improved life chances.

As global education specialists, we recognise the importance of learning and think that this should be a basic right for all children. That’s why we invest both financially and educationally into UWS as it continues its mission across some of the world’s poorest regions.

The fundraising activities from staff and students in our Colleges have directly helped many of the children UWS work with. We also help educationally by offering support and advice from our leading specialists.

The first school funded by Cambridge Education Group opened in Sa Mor Krau in Cambodia in October 2015.
